History

Guteform's history begins in the 1980s with its own carpentry workshop in Fardhem on southern Gotland. The first production was as a subcontractor of outdoor play equipment. The goal from the beginning was to create its own range of well-made furniture for a more pleasant outdoor environment.

The first own products in the 80s were the Gotland swing and the Lojsta bench table. In order to survive the winter months, root vegetable boxes, fish boxes and Euro pallets were also manufactured for many years, which provided steady employment. Since we have knowledge in play equipment, it seemed quite natural to also furnish and manufacture playrooms for indoor use in shopping centers and hotels. As a specialist carpentry company, we manufactured most things for outdoor environments, such as fences, trellises and flower boxes.

In connection with the purchase of a larger carpentry factory at Storsudret, in Burgsvik in 1999, demand for our own developed products in jarrah increased. It became and is a bestseller in Sweden and is appreciated for its design and that they are well-made and last for many years. It is not unusual for our customers to still have their furniture after 20 years - we see that as positive from an environmental point of view. From 2023 we have moved production, warehouse and sales to Klintehamn. The future is unknown, but today we see a large increase in customers who appreciate our furniture. These are products that last a long time and are made from the densely grown pine that can be found here on Gotland.
